Increase Your Coaching Value
by Milana Leshinsky
The most difficult part about selling coaching services is the lack of perceived tangible results. This is especially true for life coaches, who frequently focus on things other than the bottom-line increase. And when people can't see a tangible result at the end of the process, it's a lot harder to convince them to buy.
Some coaches increase the level of tangibility by offering e-books, books, booklets, audios, manuals and other physical products. While these are all great items to use as bonuses, they may take a while to create.
If you would like to add a tangible value to your coaching program, but don't want to spend weeks or months creating it, consider including a self-assessment to go with the coaching program. Assessments are fun and will provide invaluable insights for your clients.
Develop Your Own
While it's certainly possible to license the use of existing assessments, you can custom develop your own to immediately increase the value of your services. Begin by listing all the skills and competencies your clients must possess by the end of the coaching process. Also, list all the activities and actions they must take to achieve maximum results with your program.
Then create a detailed scoring key, explaining what their score means. The longer the assessment, the more detailed the scoring key should be. When you are done, format your assessment into a Word or PDF document so your clients can instantly download and print it out!
You may also completely automate your assessments with Assessment Generator, a tool that allows you to quickly build custom coaching assessments, put them on your web site, and have the results e-mailed to both, you and your client instantly.
Give your assessment an attractive title, and even a cover graphic - in other words, treat it like a tangible product. Nothing attracts coaching clients more than tangible results, and assessments will help you deliver exactly that!

Reinforcing Moments
Perhaps the best part about being a coach is that you get to decide exactly how you want things to be. And, maybe one of the hardest things about being a coach is that you get to decide exactly how you want things to be.
Every decision you make and every step you take to grow your business creates Reinforcing Moments. For example, the moment you choose a name for your business or determine your official title, you reinforce your decision to be a coach. When you register your business name and then open your first business bank account, you create two more of these magical moments. When you tell people about your coaching practice and decide exactly the kind of person you want to work with, you reinforce your decision again.
The Moments of Your Life
Life is made up of moments. A memorable one here; one you'd like to forget, there. These are like bricks in a wall and it takes many Reinforcing Moments to build a strong future. Everything you do to support your decision to have a successful coaching business strengthens you. Every action and follow-through gives even more validity to the process of your growth.
Build your practice, and your life, one brick at a time. There will come a moment when you truly recognize and appreciate the breadth of your strength.
