Sample Sessions
That's a very interesting question and it's one of the concepts we discuss in great depth in the Certified Coach Program. In the Certified Coach Program we refer to that first complimentary session as a sample session. And that name alone goes a long way in explaining what happens during the session. The sample session serves a variety of purposes. First of all, it's a great way to explain what coaching is by demonstrating for your perspective client the true and full power of coaching. Secondly, it allows for both the client and the coach to make sure they are a good match together. Lastly, even if the sample session does not lead directly to signing the client it's a great way to get yourself out there and let folks know what you do and how you do it. Sample sessions that don't lead directly to clients may well lead to referrals.
So, how much information do you give away? All of it. A sample session is a real coaching session with a real coachable issue and real results. And those real results leave your perspective clients feeling great about what you've accomplished and wanting more. From there it's just a short step from moving them from perspective client to signed client.

Is There Litter Along Your Path?
by A. Drayton Boylston, Executive Mentor Coach
As coaches we are blessed with solid values, a sense of caring and a desire to “do good.” It is our duty to use these gifts that have been bestowed upon us to assist as many as we can.
Until I crystallized my mission I must admit that I was tripping over obstacles along my coaching path. I thought I was doing the right things but I was not completely fulfilling my duty because I didn’t really know what it was.
Once I truly defined my mission of “rescuing 1 million executives from the lives they’ve created” I realized I had a duty as a coach to fulfill this mission. It became my obligation, my duty to accomplish.
“Happiness
and moral duty are inseparably connected.”
~ George Washington
You also have a duty to assist as many people as you can. The more people you reach the more you can help. You must take the steps necessary to attract more people to your work. That means marketing and selling yourself, not for ego or monetary purposes, but to fulfill your duty. Once you find your mission and embrace your duty you will overcome any obstacles that litter your path.
It is your duty as a coach to reach more people and do more good. I am duty bound to fulfill my mission—my rescue effort. What’s your mission?
I wish you the happiness that comes from knowing, and fulfilling, your moral duty.
Carpe diem!
